ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY

Lisbon’s current Jewish community has its origins in the groups of Sephardic Jews who settled in Portugal at the beginning of the 19th century.

They were mostly traders from Gibraltar and Morocco (Tangier, Tetouan and Mogador) and some of their names still expressed a connection to their Iberian homelands before the expulsion period.

O fecho do projeto internacional Chala Bake, de criação do tradicional pão do Shabat, teve lugar no nosso country club em Albarraque este fim de semana. Uma linda tarde de domingo com mais de 70 pessoas, entre as várias famílias presentes, encerrando com grande sucesso as atividades deste ano desta grande iniciativa internacional no âmbito do SHABAT PROJECT. O evento foi organizado pela Comunidade de Israelita de Lisboa, Somej Nophlim (a quem foi revertido todo o valor arrecadado com as inscrições), JYP - @jewishyouthpt e o Chabad Portugal.
